About Us

Photography meetups across the DMV

Shutterpaws started with a simple idea: give fursuiters and photographers a better way to connect at real, interesting locations across the Maryland, D.C., and Virginia region.

We’re a volunteer-led non-profit, and every event reflects that spirit. We handle the logistics—crowd flow, on-site safety, hydration and cooling for fursuiters—so attendees can focus on what actually matters: making great photos and building genuine community.

What we do

  • Scout and arrange photoshoots at unique, visually interesting locations across the DMV—from quiet neighborhood parks to bustling urban settings.

  • Manage event logistics end-to-end with coordinated routing, clear schedules, and attentive crowd management throughout.

  • Support our attendees on-site with dedicated hydration stations, cooling gear for fursuiters, and trained safety staff at every event.

  • Build genuine venue partnerships with local communities and spaces to ensure our events are positive, well-organized, and welcome.

Why Work With Us

We know that welcoming a large, enthusiastic group into your space takes trust. We’ve earned that trust by showing up prepared, self-sufficient, and respectful—at every event, without exception.

  • We make it easy for your staff. Our volunteers reach out ahead of time, walk the space with your team, share a clear event plan, and stay in close coordination from arrival to wrap-up. We’ve found that the best events happen when both sides are actually working together — and we take that seriously.

  • We leave every space as we found it. We bring our own equipment, manage our own cleanup, and hold attendees to a clear standard of care for venues.

  • We’re transparent by default. Our Code of Conduct is published openly on our website — available for any venue to read before committing to a yes.

  • We bring a positive, engaged community. Our attendees are enthusiastic and respectful. Events tend to be a genuine highlight for the spaces that host them.

If you’re interested in hosting a future Shutterpaws event, we’d love to hear from you.
